Master's Cup

I played in the Master's Cup today, and you can check my results once it is over. I hope that playing on my birthday brings me good luck!

Birthday Gift

I got my birthday gift from Kristin a little early, so I could use it to practice before the Master's Cup in Santa Cruz (on my actual birthday).

It is a DGA Mach Lite - portable disc golf hole. It is very lightweight, and fits into a matching blue bag for easy storage and carrying. I really like it and can't wait to use it more often - as I need the putting help.

Fountain Fun

Kristin and I worked on our fountain in the backyard today, as it was one of the only days without rain. The fountain has slowed been getting more unleveled and so we decided to take it apart, and see if we could not fix that and maybe get a new pump as well. The old pump made more noise than the water fountain, and thus defeated the purpose in my opinion.

Here it is all apart...

Once we got the dirt out the way, we realized that the cement pad it was on was tilted. We removed more of the old roots, leveled the pad and then headed off to the hardware store. We returned with more dirt, a new pump and fittings and went about trying to rebuild it...

I managed to get the pieces back together and exchanged the pump. Once that was finished we refilled it with water and tested it out and it is much improved. We added more dirt to the flower bed at the base and then put back the rosemary plants, and here is the result.

It didn't take us that long to complete this project and it makes a lot of difference in our ability to enjoy the fountain without it splashing all over the place or all the water leaking out the back/sides.

Santa Cruz Wednesday

Basketball was changed from Friday to Wednesday this week because the gym is being used for the next two weeks by one of the school's teams. I figured that I would use this as an excuse to go and play the Santa Cruz disc golf course in preparation for next week's Master Cup tournament.

I also found out that I did not get a couple of the jobs I had been applying for, which was a bit disappointing, so I was happy to get away and enjoy the nice weather.

I had a great burrito at the beach, and remembered that Wednesday night is when the sail boats coem out for informal races. It was a beautiful weather for an afternoon or evening sail...

Easter concoction

Today we had Easter dinner with Kristin's family at Danny's house in San Francisco. It was great to see everyone, although Darryl was not able to make it (he had some school work to do).

Aaron brought some dry ice to keep his ice cream cold, which was fun to play with before dinner. We took the ice cream that was left over home and so brought some dry ice as well.

So... I figured I would add it to a drink and create a bubbling brew. Eventually it turned the drink to slush because it was so cold, and I had to remove the dry ice to be able to drink it again.

Working away...

I have not posted in some time, but have been busy working on our local disc golf course (and website), in addition to looking for a full-time consulting position. I have a number of opportunities I am pursuing at the moment and hope to be working by my birthday later this month.

In the mean time, I have been working to support disc golf locally, by going to town meetings and working on certain golf holes and projects at the course itself. Unfortunately the local Parks & Rec department does not have the staff (or inclination) to fix a number of the items associated with the course, so I have taken it upon myself to work on it when I can. I know that I won't have the time for much longer, so want to make as much as headway as I can before the season officially gets started.

Check out my other blog for information about my disc golf progress.
